Distinction
[edit]Is there going to be any distinction between portals for readers and editors, which started the whole Cricket portal discussion? Mgm|(talk) 08:49, May 13, 2005 (UTC)
- hopefully not. -MarSch 16:08, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
wrap this up
[edit]There seems to be clear consensus on creating the portal namespace. Who's gonna wrap this up? -MarSch 16:09, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
Aliases in Portalspace - problem with a Wikiportal
[edit]There is a category, Category:Society which is a near-alias for Category:Human societies. This created a problem when I attempted to populate the {{portal}} for Category:Society, because it instantiated as a link to Category:Human societies, and I had already gone through the work on the Society Wikiportal.
Will there be a mechanism for creating and otherwise dealing with aliases in Portalspace? Ancheta Wis 09:20, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I do not understand what you are saying. Populating with content or editors? And I don't understand what/how/why instantiated what link. --MarSch 12:50, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Three new Wikiportals are under construction -- Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Culture, Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Society and Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Technology which can be considered as case studies of the issues encountered when populating the portals. One obvious issue is the need to support something like the HTML frame. As it stands, the Wikiportals are not robust against change. A small text change can break the layout of the Wikiportal.
