Hi Spencer,
and welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your edits on Isaac Newton, you spotted some good punctuation problems, but many of the other changes were a faux pas. You might want to check the Manual of Style, in particular the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Usage_and_spelling section about problems on the use of American English. -- Solipsist 01:23, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for educating me on this subject. I am fine with your revert to Stirling Newberry's most recent edit, but I disagree with your decision to keep the inconsistent date formats on Isaac Newton. Please consider using the dates I used in the article. SpencerWilson 01:45, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I know what you mean. It might be a little better if the dates were written consistently, but on the whole it shouldn't matter — if the dates are Wikilinked they get displayed according to the user's preferences by 'Wikimagic'. Where it can matter, is how they show up for unregistered readers. If you do want to go ahead and regularise the date orders, it would be best to put them in the British English style to conform to the rest of the article.
- There is another section of the Manual of Style which deals with dates - actually there are a lot more sections to the Manual of Style on all sorts of things, but I would recommend picking it up as you go along. -- Solipsist 02:02, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)
