The use of the word 'parasite' in this article does not match with the common definition (as found in parasite). Is this a specialised meaning of the word?

Looks like a misuse of the word to me, too. Tumours aren't separate organisms, although they do possess qualities of true parasites. To avoid confusion I've substituted "parasites" with "polyps". -- Hadal 05:53, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Could someone tell me what causes polyps?

The NIH says that there is no sure way to prevent polyps, but see this page for some steps that may lower your risk. Invertzoo (talk) 22:14, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Table

Table is from Polyp table originally. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:38, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Digestive polyp

The part "Digestive polyp" is too big. It would be clearer to create a specific page. Humpath (talk) 14:44, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request for clarification

[edit]

The table in the "Digestive polyps" section contains a confusing statement.

For the "Polyp" type "Hyperplastic polyp", the column for "Risk of malignancy" contains the following text :

"if polyps are more than 100".

What does this mean? Is this a reference to a number of polyps, their size, their location, or perhaps something else?

If someone with a medical background could clarify this, it would be most helpful.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1010:B011:9CCB:6E63:6AA9:F387:9273 (talk) 01:35, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
