Population

[edit]

What was the population in 2000, 5740 or 5750? The page says both.

I only know the population as 361. ;)

In the 2010 census, TN - Moore County - Census Tract 9302 - Block Group 2 had a total population of 729. I believe this is more representative of Lynchburg than the total population of Metropolitan Lynchburg-Moore County as currently used in the article. An alternative is to use Commissioner District 1, which has a 2017 estimated population of 1,186. Jack N. Stock (talk) 17:56, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

any explanation for the 600% pop inc in 1990? 2A04:4A43:58DF:CEF2:84F0:E101:9016:15D0 (talk) 02:03, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Law on alcoholic beverages

[edit]

I think the law that prevents Lynchburg from voting wet is TCA 57-3-106. Look it up at http://www.michie.com/tennessee/lpext.dll?f=templates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=

I've been asked to comment here on whether this is still valid. As the person who posted on my talk page noted, the link I provided over 4 years ago no longer works; the Tennessee code is now freely accessible at http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ . The law at 57-3-106 was amended in 2011, but most provisions are not changed. Eligibility to vote on local sales of alcoholic beverages is restricted for certain counties and municipalities. Those counties and municipalities are not named in the statute, but are identified based on their population in the 1950, 1960, or 1970 census. A curious person could find the populations of Lynchburg and Moore County in those censuses and compare them to the numbers given in the law. --Orlady (talk) 20:12, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
