AfD nomination of 2008 Kazan explosion

[edit]

An article that you have been involved in editing, 2008 Kazan explosion, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2008 Kazan explosion. Thank you. Matthiasb-DE (talk) 20:08, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any particular reason why you don't want to merge this with Kazan? It is a rather short stub, after all...—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:45, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure, it will be larger as soon as investigation results will be found. More over, there is some unclear about three missed persons. And finally there are a lot of such short articles, for example: Chechnya Spetsnaz base explosion. --Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also:ә? Ә!) 18:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that the majority of the "delete" votes came from people who do not consider the event to be notable. I can see now that it is not the case, but if you could add a few more sources to the article (preferrably in English), I'll gladly oppose the nomination and explain why the notability guidelines (at least in my view) are being met.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:37, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tatar Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi, you seem to be a sysop (and bureaucrat) at the Tatar Wikipedia. There are several pages in tt:Category:Candidates for speedy deletion which have been requested for deletion. Could you look through the list and delete the pages (if appropriate)? Thanks in advance, -- Prince Kassad (talk) 15:16, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Latinization in USSR

I was wondering if you know specifically which languages had their first alphabets created during the Soviet Latinization campaign? I think such a list would be a great addition to the article. Thanks! Otebig (talk) 15:58, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Sochi conflict

[edit]

Hi Untifler, I'll try to work towards the improvement of the article, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that in the next few weeks. Best regards,--KoberTalk 16:02, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Dato Khujadze, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Notability of KGB (band)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on KGB (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tnxman307 (talk) 20:28, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hello Untifler. You seem to be quite knowledgeable on the subject of the Volga-Ural region of Russia, perhaps you could help me out with something. The Volgaic Finns article is quite a mess. It is largely unsourced, and it was moved last November form Mordvin people due to this comment. I'm not sure if it should have been moved or not, but to the best of my knowledge, the Mordvins consist of two groups: Erzya Mordvins, who speak Erzya, and Moksha Mordvins, who speak Moksha. What I'm not sure about is whether these two groups recognize the Mordvin term (which they are labeled as according to the Russian census), or whether they consider themselves two distinct ethnic groups. Do you know what the history is of the term "Mordvin"? Do you think that the article should be moved back? I noticed today that a Erzya people article was created a few months ago (there was already a Moksha people page). However, I honestly don't know enough about the subject to make significant contributions to these articles. Perhaps this is similar to the Mingrelians and Svans who are sup-groups of the Georgian people. Another question is why Udmurts aren't mentioned in the article, despite the fact that they are a Finnic people as well. Perhaps you could help me fix up the page, because I'm not quite sure what to do at this point. Thanks. Khoikhoi 02:34, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also see what another user points out at Talk:Moksha people. Khoikhoi 02:51, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fooof, this dispute is rather known for me. First of all, it is absolutely incorrect to move Morvins to Volgaic Finns, due to classification:
There are two general branches of the Finnic peoples in the region: Uralian Finns: Udmurts and Komi (1) and Volga Finns, including Mordvin peoples and Mari peoples, as well as Muroma, Meshchera and Merya in the Middle Ages (2). Volga Finns, in turn, are divided into Northern - Mari peoples (Hill, Meadow and Eastern; possibly this group also included Merya) and southern Volga Finns , which are Mordvin peoples Moksha and Erzya, and three subgroups, which are also belong either to Moksha or to Eryza; historically this group included Muroma and Meshchera, (however, it is disputed). The classification is such, but I m not sure that all terms I use are correct...
So, as you see, Mokshans and Eryzas are included firstly to the Mordvin peoples, and only then Mordvin peoples are included to the Volga Finns. Another dispute is "are Mokshans and Erzyans separate people, or subgroups only"? I really dont know, what POV prevails now. Surely, both POVs exist, and it should be mentioned in all articles. As for Maris, they are used to be divided to @subgroups@, not "peoples". Mainly, the concept of "two peoples" and disuse of "Mordvin" term is likely to Mordvin (sorry, Moksha and Erzya) schlars themselves,
As result, This page should be switched back to "Mordvins" or "Mordvin peoples", as this term is widely used, and "Volgaic Finns" should be rewritten to include more about Maris, and historical Volga Finnic peoples.--Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also:ә? Ә!) 08:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. I have moved the page back and created a new Volga Finns article. I copied some of your comment at Talk:Mordvins (hope you don't mind). Thanks again. Khoikhoi 20:00, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ruslan Chagaev

[edit]

))) --Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also:ә? Ә!) 14:30, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Взять хотя бы Ildar Fatchullin,который никакой не Фачуллин, а Фатхуллин.--Üñţïf̣ļëŗ (see also:ә? Ә!) 15:17, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Locator maps

[edit]

Nurlatsky Districts

[edit]

Nurlatsky District, Tatar ASSR (which used to be under "Nurlat-Achasyrsky District"). Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:23, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Acem

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Acem requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chuvash statehood. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Hello Untifler! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:28, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Tuq2.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Tuq2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:16, 29 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. The article Mahmud Khan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:AUTHOR

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Gäp

[edit]

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Gäp, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Nomination of Gäp for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Gäp, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gäp until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:50, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Yaxin.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Yaxin.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Logan Talk Contributions 20:23, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:IttifaQ Balki 2007.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:IttifaQ Balki 2007.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Your admin status on ab.wiki

[edit]

Hello. I'm a steward. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus recently. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing of administrators' activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on ab.wikipedia, where you are an administrator. Since ab.wikipedia does not have an own administrators' rights review process, the global one applies.

If you wish to retain your rights, you should notify the community that the stewards sent you this information about your inactivity to discuss the matter. Following your community's discussion, if the community then wants that you keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights, and demonstrate a continued requirement to maintain these rights.

We stewards will evaluate the responses. If there is no response at all after approximately one month, we will proceed to remove your administrative rights. In cases of doubt, we will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact us on m:Stewards' noticeboard.
