1948 is wrong date for end of compulsory attendance at residential schools
[edit]Compulsory attendance did not end in 1948 (see Indian Act); Haig-Brown reference cited doesn't say it did, either. Deleted. 2001:569:FD3B:1600:C578:48CE:B32A:95CF (talk) 21:18, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

- Then feel free to provide a source with the correction instead of merely asserting that it exists somewhere out in the ether when you’re making the claim to its existence and claiming that there is an error present here. The burden is on you to provide a source for the claim. Your Friend From 1914 (talk) 10:26, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Some of the statements in that report are based on a single witness or even secondhand informa does this article have some standards for proof and fact that are different from the rest of wikipedia. 2001:56A:78B5:3000:D36:52FF:6388:284B (talk) 14:21, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- There does seem to be a whiff of melodrama around some of the wording. However, it's very minimal and doesn't justify your mass deletions of sourced material. --₪ MIESIANIACAL 15:06, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- That material is not sourced, it's alleged. Part of the TRCs mandate was to record the allegations and words of indigenous people affected without ANY JUDGEMENT regarding the truth or accuracy of those statements. 2604:3D09:D78:1000:8636:CAF2:B9D:31C7 (talk) 15:31, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

- Why are you at the noticeboard all the time instead of talk pages. Are taking the time to see if other sources verify this information? It seems overly complicated all the time. Moxy🍁 02:39, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
Reference formatting
[edit]@Nikkimaria:, why is having inconsistent reference formatting in the article preferable over having a consistent reference style? -- Cdjp1 (talk) 21:41, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Cdjp1, your edit appeared to introduce more inconsistencies than it solved - could you elaborate on what specifically you see as inconsistent in the current format? Nikkimaria (talk) 21:45, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Referring to sources as both a news item in one reference and a website in another, having both "author=" and "first=/last=" for authors, having multiple different date formats, having "access-date=" and "accessdate=", same for archive-, having "|", " | ", and "| ", as just some of the examples. -- Cdjp1 (talk) 21:52, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Could you clarify what you mean by the first example? Nikkimaria (talk) 22:05, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- When citing articles from a news site, in some instances they have been referenced using the "cite web" template, where in other instances they use the "cite news" template. I'm going to submit an update where all the references are formatted in the same way, can you let me know if the edit is acceptable? -- Cdjp1 (talk) 17:16, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

- Again, that edit seems to introduce more inconsistencies rather than fewer. I've resolved all of the issues you mention. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:25, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

- Looking at this edit, you have locations added for some citations but not others of the same type; wikilinks added on some but not all entities of the same type; and

Residential school graves
