2013 Wikipedia Loves Libraries Austin Edit-a-thon

[edit]

I'm interested in organizing an Austin event for Wikipedia Loves Libraries some time in September or October. Is anyone else interested? (If so, please add your name to the list above or contact me.) I'll bet we could get a spare room at one of the Austin Public Library branches. Ideally I guess we would contribute to some Austin-related articles so that we can best take advantage of the library's resources. -- Mobeets (talk) 16:16, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is there anyone interested in restarting an Austin Wikipedia meetup group? If so, please let me know (here, and at my talk page). -- Guðsþegn (talk) 20:47, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SXSW 2009 Meetup

2006

[edit]

Late February/Early March

[edit]

Thanks to everyone who came out to the first of the revival Austin Wikimeetups. We were hoping to have one more meeting before the meeting with Jimbo. The patio outside the Union Wendy's worked out pretty well, so I am inclined to say that we should meet there again. Although the meeting is held on campus, I want to remind everyone that you don't have to be a student to attend. Please take a look at the discussion page for discussion regarding future meetups.

Jimbo Wales meeting (SXSW)

[edit]

Jimbo Wales is coming to Austin for the SXSW conference. In advance of this event, I would like to revive the monthly wikimeetup. If we have an event in place by SXSW (March 2006), we could possibly ask Jimbo to attend one of our meetings! Please comment below with ~~~ if you are interested in attending a wikimeetup similar to those in the past here in Austin (with the added bonus of maybe meeting Jimbo). -Scm83x 11:37, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Austin Wikipedia Meetup on 4 February 2006.

Goodness, I lost track of time there and didn't realize that the Meetup is this weekend. I suggest that we meet in the patio outside the Wendy's in the Union at first. Then, since there are only 4 of us, we can move around to a better location from there. Sign below to let me know this is OK.

  • When: February 4th, 4:30PM
  • Where: Patio outside the Wendy's in the Texas Union

When: 19:00 CDT

Where: Mozart's map

My preferred spot (weather and crowds permitting) at Mozart's is outside, on the lower deck at the far left (from the bar, walk towards the lake, and go down the stairs). It's a little hard to find, but you tend to get space and privacy. If it's too hot and sticky, then I'll be near the bar. Mozart's has free WiFi.

I regret to announce that this will be the last Austin Wikipedia Meetup that I organize, as I'm moving to San Diego. Thanks to all who attended for the support. Bovlb 06:14:50, 2005-08-03 (UTC)

Who's planning on coming this evening? Bovlb 17:51:32, 2005-08-08 (UTC)

Teo's prices have been going up, and their WiFi getting less reliable.

When: 19:00 CDT

Where: Teo's

Let's give Teo's another try. Does second Monday work out for people? I've had a suggestion that it be moved to later in the month, say fourth Monday. Bovlb 14:55, 2005 May 13 (UTC)

Bah. Missed the May one. I'll try to make this one. Taral 08:14, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

When: 19:00 CDT

Where: Teo's

I'm thinking about moving this to Teo's[1]. Again it has free WiFi, but it's nearer town, and serves gelato. Bovlb 04:24, 2005 Apr 12 (UTC)

So Teo's it is. 19:00 CDT. I'd appreciate getting some idea of how many are coming. Bovlb 18:28, 2005 Apr 20 (UTC)

(Copied from User talk:Bovlb#Austin_Wikipedia_Meetup)

I have proposed an Austin meetup group for Wikipedians. Please join me at Mozart's on 2005-04-11. [2] Bovlb 05:52, 2005 Mar 30 (UTC)

Excellent! How will we recognize each other? Ben 04:14, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I guess that I'll be the one with the dorky "Wikipedia Meetup" sign. ☺ My preferred spot (weather and crowds permitting) at Mozart's is outside, on the lower deck at the far left (from the bar, walk towards the lake, and go down the stairs). It's a little hard to find, but you tend to get space and privacy. Do I need to mention that Mozart's has free WiFi? Bovlb 04:41, 2005 Mar 31 (UTC)
